Pianist Stephen Prutsman has won major classical music competitions, he's written arrangements for string quartets and pop stars and he writes jazz music for himself to play. So which musical world exactly does Prutsman live in? Not one in particular, Prutsman says. Just his own.

Prutsman joined PT host Fred Child in the Maud Moon Weyerhaeuser Music Studio recently to talk about his diverse career, including his work with autism.

After Prutsman's son was diagnosed with autism, Prutsman and his wife began a non-profit organization called Autism Fun Bay Area to give families dealing with autism ideas of places, events and activities that they can enjoy together.

Prutsman also performed music from his latest CD, Passengers. The music ranges from jazz to classical to funk to gospel, but there's nothing pastiche about it. Prutsman says he doesn't set out to write in a specific style, he simply composes in a mood that fits the meaning.
