Humphrey Bogart had an on screen tough-guy persona. But the real Bogart was raised by a genteel East Coast family with a doctor father and a well-known artist mother. He went to prep school at Andover Academy and was headed for the Ivy League before deciding on acting as his life's work. While Casablanca made him a star before he met Lauren Bacall, it was their famous off-screen love affair that fired their on-screen chemistry.
