Where Are They Now? spotlights Minnesota Varsity Featured and Showcase Artists from 2011 and 2012! It's been fun catching up with them to ask what they're doing now and what they remember and value most about their Minnesota Varsity experience. We're pleased to share their inspiring stories with you. And we're proud of every student across the state who's entered Minnesota Varsity and shared their music-making with us and with their friends, families, and communities. Will you be one of 2013's Featured Artists? Start now.
Today, a visit with Brianna Drevlow:
Brett Drevlow, Accompanist
2011 Featured Artist
Age: Brianna 18, Brett 17
Hometown: Thief River Falls
Student at: Concordia College, Moorhead MN
"My brother, Brett, and I were in the 2011 Featured Artists Round. I performed a movement from Prokofiev's Piano Concerto No. 1 in Db Major, with Brett as my accompanist."
"I am currently a freshman at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN as a Bachelor of Music — Piano Performance major and a Theory/Composition and Film Studies minor. I plan on obtaining a Master's degree and someday, plan on writing music soundtracks for major motion pictures. Brett is a senior in high school this year and is looking forward to attending college and majoring in Music as well. We have both been so fortunate to receive Minnesota Varsity scholarships from Concordia to help fund our college tuitions, which has had a tremendous impact, so thank you, MPR!"
"I would say our favorite memories of our Varsity experience would be having the opportunity to not only perform at MPR's booth at the 2011 Minnesota State Fair, but the recording process was so much fun and gave us a glimpse of what it is like to professionally record a piece using high quality equipment. The tech guys that came to record us were so friendly; they drove 90 miles from Bemidji to Thief River Falls in blizzard-like conditions!"
"We are so thankful for this opportunity and hopefully, this won't be the last time you hear from us! Good luck to all competing in this year's Varsity contest!"
