Click on Classical: Inside Naxos, VocalEssence books a stadium, Badalamenti’s back

Every Monday morning at 9:15, I join John Birge on Classical MPR to talk about stories we're featuring on our websites. Here's what we'll be discussing today.

Founded in 1987, Naxos has risen from a marginalized budget label to one of the classical recording industry's greatest success stories. That's due in large part to the vision of founder Klaus Heymann, who moved more quickly than any of his peers to embrace the digital revolution. I spoke with Heymann about his label's history, their CDs' iconic white cover design, the status of classical music today, and the "nostalgia" craze for vinyl.

There was big news this week for VocalEssence: they'll be joining the world's biggest rock band this week to perform onstage in Minneapolis for a stadium full of fans.

If you're excited that Twin Peaks is coming back to TV, you'll also be excited to know that not only is David Lynch on board, so is original composer Angelo Badalamenti. Read about it at YourClassical.
