What would you do if someone fell on your cello? That was the question Minneapolis cellist Olivia Quintanilla had to answer after she returned from a party to find that someone had landed on her 150-year-old instrument. Fortunately, her story has a happy ending.
Young pianist Collin Jicks is hoping to take the Fitzgerald Theater stage in April as part of our Minnesota Varsity concert, but in the meantime he'll be heard this Sunday at the First Lutheran Church in Columbia Heights, where he's secured a spot to play Beethoven's first piano concerto.
Also on Sunday, the Wayzata Symphony Orchestra will be at Symphony Hall in Minneapolis to perform Verdi's magnificent requiem. That work takes some bold brass playing, and violist Dawn Anderson reports that the horns will definitely be ready to rock.
